Daniel Shine opens a general store on the site, later becoming home to the Union Hotel.
1887
Mrs. Alex McLean of the Royal Hotel takes over the Union Hotel.
1897
The License, Goodwill, and Furniture of the Union Hotel are advertised for sale in the Queensland Times.
1911
Ownership transfers to George Sweeney, promoting “excellent accommodation for boarders and visitors.”
1920
Violet Callaghan becomes licensee and renames the venue the Prince of Wales Hotel, honoring a royal visit to Ipswich.
